The VIN plate is typically found on the engine compartment firewall for earlier models. For models from 1988 or 1989 onward, the VIN plate is located on the driver’s side door jamb. Some earlier models may also have a VIN plate on the firewall, but without the gear code, which can be found on a separate plate in the engine compartment.
